Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): One BAMS student of Pt Dr Shivshakti Lal Sharma Ayurved Medical College, Ratlam allegedly committed suicide on Saturday. After the incident, the college students staged a protest against the college authorities at Sailana Bus stand leading to a traffic jam on the entire road. The cops were only able to clear the jam after a considerable period of time. The deceased was identified as Sandeep Parmar of Shujalpur, Shajapur resident and was in the final year of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS).

According to police, Sandeep hanged himself in a rented room at Pukhraj Residency, Sailana road. His body was spotted by a roommate Devendra Gurjar around 5:00 pm, who first informed neighbours and then the police.

A suicide note has been discovered near his body according to which no one is responsible for his death. But, when his room was investigated, a notebook was found in which he had written a letter to the education minister complaining about the management of the college.

The relatives of the deceased student and the protesting students informed that the deceased has taken this step due to the collection of unnecessary fees and harassment by the college management. Even Sandeep's parents were not informed about his death by the college. Students added, that their degree should be completed within five and a half years, but it has been extended to seven and a half years. This is leadig to financial issues.

In the past few years, two other students had also committed suicide due to the same reasons.
