The grandmother of Raj Kushwaha - one of the accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case and alleged lover of the victim's wife, Sonam - suffered a fatal heart attack upon learning of her grandson's arrest.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves through Raja's ancestral village in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district, where his grandmother had been living. Family members disclosed that the distraught woman had passionately defended Raj following his arrest, maintaining his innocence and claiming he had been framed.

Raj originally hails from Rampur village in Fatehpur, and his family moved to Indore fifteen years ago in search of a livelihood. While most relatives joined them in the city a decade later as their financial situation improved, Raj's elder sister stayed behind in the village with their grandmother.

The family endured further tragedy during the COVID-19 pandemic when Raj's father died, prompting Raj to return to Indore where he found employment in the plywood industry. It was through this work that he allegedly first encountered Sonam Raghuvanshi, initiating the chain of events that would ultimately lead to her husband's murder and, tragically, his own grandmother's death from shock.

Local authorities have confirmed they are treating the grandmother's death as shock-related rather than suspicious, though the case remains under active investigation as forensic teams continue examining evidence. Neighbours in Fatehpur describe a household overwhelmed by grief, with the elderly woman's sudden demise intensifying the family's anguish over Raj's murder charges.

Police sources confirm the investigation remains ongoing, with officers following multiple lines of inquiry concerning the alleged conspiracy between Sonam and Raj. The case has captivated public attention across both Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, with many awaiting forensic findings that may influence whether additional charges are brought.
