Jaora: With every passing day, the number of corona patients undergoing treatment either at the hospital or covid care centres are reducing and it brought much-needed relief for Jaora administration here in Ratlam district.
Meanwhile, the administration did not want to be off guard as they started preparing for the third wave of corona expected in the next few months. Taking cue from the large quantity of requirement of medical oxygen for treatment of covid-19 patients during second wave, administration all set to set-up an oxygen plant worth Rs 54 lakh.
Half of its parts arrived on May 17 and half on Wednesday.
Now the work is being started and if everything goes according to plan, the oxygen plant will soon be tested. It will be enough to cater to the need for oxygen for 40 oxygen beds at the civil hospital and 20 oxygen beds at the new maternity hospital. Not only this, but it will produce sufficient oxygen that ends the hassle of filling and ordering cylinders daily.
Officials who are monitoring work said that oxygen consumption here has reduced in the past few days, but we need to continue our work.
Initially, there were more than 100 Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment here at the civil hospital and now the number has come down to 45.
When it comes to the district, Ratlam currently has 676 active patients after the district recorded 17,674 novel coronavirus cases so far. With 307 casualties due to the pandemic, the district saw 16,691 recoveries.
