Sendhwa (Madhya Pradesh): A team from Bhopal surveyed houses built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in Sendhwa municipality area on Saturday and Sunday. This inspection was part of a two-day workshop focused on social audits. The team expressed surprise and satisfaction at the quality of the houses.

During the visit, the team inspected houses in wards 6, 7 and 8. It noted that ward 6, previously a slum area, now had clean and well-maintained houses. The team was particularly impressed with a well-constructed house built by a beneficiary on a narrow plot just six feet wide, and documented it with photos.

Local officials, including municipality sub-engineer Sachin Alune and ward councillor Lata Chaudhary accompanied the team from Bhopal. They inspected four to five houses in each ward, including a notable home built by a disabled beneficiary in Ward 8.

The team engaged with residents, asking if they faced any issues during construction and confirming that housing instalments were deposited directly into their accounts.

They encouraged those who had not yet applied for the scheme to do so online, saying that the government was also planning to assist those without land or leases who lived in rented homes. Overall, the Bhopal team praised the municipality’s efforts and the positive impact of the housing scheme on the community.
