Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): A team of officials from the department of mineral, revenue, police and others raided several places in Khargone district and seized sand stored illegally.
During the raids, Rs 30 lakh worth of illegally stocked sand (estimated market value) was confiscated from different locations in Barwaha and Sanawad.
A total of 140 cubic metres of illegally stored sand was confiscated from four different places in Barwaha while 860 cubic metres of sand was recovered from 10 separate places in Sanawad.
Mining officer Sawan Chouhan said that the raids continued for a total of 12 hours.
According to further details, the raids were conducted following complaints about illegal storage and transportation of sand to various places. As many as 14 such complaints were received and the department of mineral, revenue, and police seized a large quantity of sand across Khargone district acting on these complaints.
