Khargone (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Divisional Commissioner Deepak Singh held a crucial video conference to review cases related to forest crime and violations under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
The meeting was attended by key officials from all districts within the division, emphasising a collaborative approach to tackling these pressing issues. Collector Karmaveer Sharm, SP Dharmaraj Meena, district panchayat CEO Akash Singh and other departmental officials also attended.
During the meeting, the commissioner stressed the need for swift action regarding encroachments on forest land, illegal felling of trees, wild animal hunting and smuggling of forest products. In cases where wild animals cause crop damage, the commissioner instructed the preparation of cases under RBC 6/4 to ensure farmers receive the necessary relief.
The distribution of forest rights leases was also reviewed to ensure compliance and support for local communities. Regular district-level task force meetings were mandated to facilitate the quick resolution of cases registered under the SC-ST Atrocities Prevention Act.
The commissioner urged that pending payments for relief amounts should be processed within three days. For cases where prosecution is hindered due to missing caste certificates, he instructed officials to expedite the issuance of documents to avoid delays in legal proceedings.
