Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore has rolled out an innovative high-tech pilot project in five iBuses to transform its public transport experience.

Launched on December 10, this advanced system uses artificial intelligence (AI) and telematics to keep a close watch on drivers’ behavior, aiming to make travel safer and more efficient for passengers.

Project includes...

The project uses advanced systems to monitor the behavior of bus drivers. If a driver talks on their phone, smokes, or yawns frequently while driving, an alert will immediately be sent to the control room and the bus operator.

The project started 10 days ago, introduced by AICTSL (Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited) after researching similar technology in Delhi. If the pilot project is successful, it will be expanded to all city buses.

AICTSL Engineer-in-Charge Abhinav Singh Chauhan shared that the pilot is being tested on five iBuses running on the BRTS route. The system uses advanced AI and telematics software that performs various monitoring tasks. Special equipment has been installed in the buses for this purpose.

Chauhan mentioned that this technology is already being used in Delhi’s railway system and was modified to suit public transport needs. A Delhi-based company is supporting this trial. The pilot project will continue for two months, and if it proves successful, tenders will be issued to implement it on a larger scale.

AICTSL currently operates 450 buses, with 435 running on different routes. If the system is rolled out city-wide, it is expected to significantly improve public transport services.
