Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A newlywed couple mysteriously disappeared during their honeymoon in Meghalaya's Shillong on May 24, raising concerns among their family and local authorities.

Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, married on May 11 in Indore. The couple left for their honeymoon on 20th May.

According to the family, the couple first went to Guwahati via Bengaluru and then visited Shillong on May 23. They visited at Maa Kamakhya Temple temple before heading to Shillong.

The last traced location of the couple was found in Osra Hill, a sensitive area of Shillong, where their rented Activa was found abandoned. The couple reportedly rented the scooter from a local agency before heading to Osra Hill.

After not able to reach out Raja, his elder brother Sachin Raghuvanshi first speculated that there would be a network issue, but later, he got worried when both their mobiles were switched off from May 24.

When no contact could be made after several attempts, Sonam's brother Govind and Raja's brother Vipin reached Shillong by emergency flight.

Location found from Google Map

Govind traced the nearby location from their photo through Google Map and got the information of the person who gave the Activa on rent. After contacting the rental agency and sending the photos and gathering information, the agency confirmed that the couple had rented the Activa from them and left for Osara Hill.

According to the local police, the Activa was found abandoned in the hilly area, which is located near a ravine. There is also a resort named Orsa in the area, which is considered a den of criminals and is infamous for criminal activities.

Language problem became an obstacle in the search

Raja's brother Sachin Raghuvanshi said that language became a barrier in getting help from the local police. After this, Indore Police Commissioner Santosh Singh was contacted, who, seeing the seriousness of the case, has assigned DCP Crime Branch Rajesh Kumar Tripathi to investigate. He is in constant touch with Shillong Police.

Couples have gone missing in that area before

Local residents say that this area is notorious for miscreants and a couple has gone missing here before. The police also hesitate to go to this area. At present, the police and the family are busy searching for both of them.
