Indore: MP Shankar Lalwani said here on Wednesday said that all residents of the city will be vaccinated with two doses by November-end.
“As of now we are giving close to 30000 vaccine shots daily. The figure will cross 50000 mark by next week. Our target is to give two doses of vaccine to all residents by November,” Lalwani said on the sidelines of his visit to vaccination centre at Free Press House on Wednesday.
Lalwani stated that they want to intensify vaccine programme immediately but it is linked with production.
“We have placed orders as per our requirements of vaccine. We are expecting speedy delivery,” he added.
Indore had faced huge crisis of oxygen during April when Covid-19 cases were at its peak during second wave.
Lalwani stated that they convinced to as many as 27 major hospitals in the city to setup their own oxygen generation plants so that if the cases again spiked April like situation did not occur.
He said that the work of building oxygen generation plants have already started at the hospitals.
More than 1.48 lakh people have been infected with coronavirus in Indore and nearly 1350 of them died. Lalwani stated that a service society created by him is trying to help people affected by Covid-19 in different ways, especially financially.
“Most importantly, we are talking to schools of waiving off fee of those students who lost their bread earner parent/s. We are making sure that the student does not have to change school because of financial reason. If the school does not waive off entire fee, then we arrange a donor who will pay his/her fee,” Lalwani said.
Besides, Lalwani stated that they were also helping small vendors who lost all their money due to Covid-19. “We are finding people who are ready provide finance to them so that they can again do their business,” he said.
Lalwani stated that the cases of Covid-19 had come down but the situation can deteriorate again so it is important that people strictly follow Covid-19 guidelines of wearing masks and maintain social distancing.
