Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Then Thana Incharge of Vijay Nagar police station Ravindra Singh Gurjar was demoted as sub-inspector and the increments of two other policemen, including a sub-inspector, were withheld after they were found guilty of taking bribe from four students caught in June 2023 on suspicion of indulging in online betting.

According to information, the Vijay Nagar police caught four youths, including three minor boys, on suspicion of indulging in online betting in June 2023. One of them is the nephew of journalist Ashish Jadoun.

After allegations of the youths’ kin that the police had taken bribe to release the youths from the police station, the police commissioner had instructed a subordinate officer to probe the case.

The allegations were found to be true after the statements of the complainants, the police officials, CCTV footage and other evidence were examined. Hence, commissioner of police Santosh Singh issued an order to demote inspector Gurjar as S-I for three years.

S-I Sanjay Dhurvey’s two increments have been stopped and an increment of constable Lokendra Singh was withheld.  It is said that inspector Gurjar was attached to police line after a complaint was received against him. SI Dhurvey and another policemen were suspended by the DCP after receiving a complaint against them.

Sources claimed that SI Dhurvey is presently posted at Banganga police station. Sources claimed that one Ajay Sharma, who had posed himself as a policemen posted at the Vijay Nagar police station was also booked by the Lasudia police station staff for threatening the students to take their statements back.
