Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The opposition created a ruckus in the state assembly when BJP MLA and ruling party state president Hemant Khandelwal asked a question related to his Betul assembly constituency on Friday.

Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar took exception, saying that if the work of the ruling party’s state president was not being done, then how would the work of MLAs be done.

Khandelwal tried to know from public health engineering minister Sampatiya Uikey how many posts of sub engineer and assistant engineer were vacant in Betul district.

Defending the government from the opposition attack, minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that the BJP state president asking a question showed his simplicity.

Earlier, Singhar said that as Khandelwal was the ruling party state president, he could have got the work done by calling the minister to his chamber or could have got it done through the CM.

Amidst the cacophony created by the Opposition, Khandelwal said he was also an MLA and discharged the duty of an elected representative.

Replying to Khandelwal’s question, PHE minister Sampatiya Uikey told that nine posts of sub engineers and five posts of assistant engineers were vacant in Betul and a process was underway to fill them through direct recruitment and promotion.
