Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A habitual offender has been arrested for attempted murder after he forcefully threw a one-year-old girl on the road following a dispute with her uncle, police said on Thursday. Police later paraded the accused in public at the crime scene, where he apologised for his action.

According to police, Inder Kushwaha, a resident of Sethi Sambandh Nagar, lodged a complaint on Wednesday stating that he was taking a stroll outside his house while carrying his one-year-old niece, Divyanshi. At that moment, Ankush Patel, a resident of the same locality, confronted him and began hurling abuses. When Kushwaha objected, Patel suddenly snatched the child from his arms and threw her on the ground, inflicting serious injuries. Following the incident, the police registered a case against Patel under Sections 115, 296, 351(3), 109, and 225 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested him.

Accused received ‘Red Notice’ a day before incident

The accused was warned by police on Tuesday with a ‘Red Notice’, instructing him to refrain from engaging in criminal activities, as he already had 11 cases registered against him. However, despite the warning, he committed the crime the very next day, leading to his immediate arrest.

While being taken for a medical examination, Patel tried to escape but fell and sustained injuries. He was later presented before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
