Indore: Robots are not only capable of finishing a task efficiently but they, much like the movie Big Hero, are capable of providing emotional comfort to humans if tuned properly. This was stated by Prof Meng Joo and Dr Maode Ma from School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, on the second day of three-day conference held in city on Friday.

Speaking details about the latest technology developed by him, Ma told Free Press that he has introduced IP technologies to wireless sensor networks, which helps in securing mobility support in 6LoWPAN network. He cited importance of security and efficient working for technology.

“Currently, robots are working on one sensor, which limits their function in a certain area,” Ma said. He is working on finding how a robot can have two sensors. “The problem is how one sensor hands over to another sensor and at what time,” Ma said. The possibility of having a group of sensors in single robot might help a robot in specialising in more than one field of work, as shown in most robotic movies.

When asked what will be the next step after a group of sensors are installed, Ma said, “The next step that might cause problems in robots becoming smarter is congestion of information and decision between right and wrong.” Though it sounds much like the human problem, it would cause complete blackout in case of a robot.

Joo talked about the possibilities in which robots can have capabilities to learn, understand and behave like humans in every field. “Robots are employed everywhere for all tasks be it Hen-Naa Hotel in Japan, which is fully operational by robots. Non-performer robots are laid off within no time,” he said.

Joo said that robots are also working in inhuman environment like nuclear power plant or boiler working at very high temperature filled with chemicals. “Intelligence can be developed in robots by using processing architecture, which will empower them to take decisions in all types of odd situations like humans,” he said.

Dr Stefan Schlosser, senior scientist from Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava who is a member of several scientific committees of Europe, addressed the participants on the usefulness of carboxylic acid in prevention of diseases such as cancer.
