Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has removed eight bus stops along the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor, with work underway at three more locations as part of the removal drive.
Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal conducted an inspection of the BRTS corridor and several master plan roads across the city.
He was accompanied by Additional Commissioner Abhay Rajangaonkar, Superintending Engineer P S Kushwah and other officials.
During the inspection, Singhal reviewed the removal of bus stops and railings along the corridor. He directed officials to ensure immediate cleaning, patchwork and road levelling at sites where structures have been dismantled.
He also emphasised public safety, instructing teams to install proper barricading and signage during ongoing work.
The 11.05km BRTS corridor, stretching from Rajiv Gandhi Statue Square to Niranjanpur Square, earlier had 17 bus stops. Of these, eight, including those at Bhanwarkuan Square, Navlakha Square and Holkar Science College, have been dismantled. Road levelling and resurfacing at these locations have been completed.
Removal work is currently underway at three locations: City Bus Office, Geeta Bhawan Square and LIG Square.
Officials said most of the railing removal along the corridor has been completed, except for a 670m stretch between Navlakha Square and Holkar Science College. This work will be taken up after the Public Works Department installs temporary dividers.
Following the inspection, Singhal also reviewed progress on master plan road projects, including routes from Musakhedi Square to Sawariya Temple, Malviya Nagar, MIG to Ring Road, MR-04 corridor and Jawra Compound.
He directed construction agencies to expedite work while maintaining quality standards and instructed officials to ensure continuous monitoring for timely completion.
