Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a much-awaited development for passengers on the heavily travelled Indore–Mumbai route, the Western Railway has announced the introduction of a Tejas Superfast Special train—promising luxury, speed, and comfort—starting July 24.
Sources said the Tejas is initially being run as a special fare train for one month, but based on public response, it may be made a regular feature on this high-demand route—where buses, flights, and trains often operate at full capacity.
Vinit Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Western Railway, informed Free Press on Saturday that this new service will run on a trial basis till August 30. Given the high demand on the route, the move is being seen as a significant upgrade in travel experience.

Schedule & Route
Train number 09085 Mumbai Central–Indore Tejas Special will depart Mumbai Central at 11:20 PM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, reaching Indore the next day at 1:00 PM.
In the return direction, train number 09086 Indore–Mumbai Central Tejas Special will leave Indore at 5:00 PM every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, arriving in Mumbai at 7:10 AM the following day.
This service will run from July 23 to August 30, with halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Dahod, Ratlam, and Ujjain in both directions.
Train Composition & Booking
The train will have 16 coaches, including 4 First AC, 3 Second AC, 7 Third AC coaches, and 2 power cars. Bookings open Monday at all PRS counters and on the IRCTC website.
This move also comes after strong public demand. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan recently wrote to railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and MP Shankar Lalwani submitted a memorandum requesting a new Mumbai-bound train.
