Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore mayor Pushyamitra Bahrgava, on the occasion of 79th Independence Day, announced 50 new electric buses for the city which will start running from next week.
The announcement came after Indore's Atal Indore City Transport Services Limited (AICTSL) hoisted the tricolour at its office on Friday morning.
The national flag was hoisted by mayor and AICTSL chairman Pushyamitra Bhargav.
Mayor arrives to venue on bicycle
Adding a unique touch to the celebration, the Mayor arrived at the venue by bicycle. The gesture aimed to promote green mobility and raise awareness about last-mile connectivity among citizens.
Bhargav emphasised that adopting sustainable transport options is essential for protecting the environment and improving urban travel.

Indore city to have new e-buses
During the ceremony, the Mayor announced that Indore will now have 50 new electric buses running on roads from next week. Currently, 80 electric buses are operational in Indore.
With the addition of the new fleet, the total will rise to 130, significantly boosting eco-friendly public transport and reducing pollution levels.
The event was attended by municipal commissioner IAS Shivam Verma, AICTSL officials, employees and invited guests.
The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, marking a patriotic and environmentally conscious Independence Day celebration in the city.
