Kin allege negligence by hotel management for not providing safety equipment

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 28-year-old assistant manager of a hotel was electrocuted to death while attempting to drain out water using a motor pump under Lasudia police station limits on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred after a Narmada water pipeline burst outside the hotel. While trying to repair the pipeline, he got down into a water-filled mud hole and was electrocuted while operating the pump. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Family members have accused the hotel management of negligence, claiming that no safety equipment was provided to the victim during the repair.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Deepak Parmar, a resident of Dheeraj Nagar, Khajrana. He worked as an assistant manager at Hotel Ramada Encore, Nipania. His friend Gaurav said that the Narmada pipeline supplying water to the hotel had burst outside the premises. While trying to repair it, Deepak entered the muddy pit alone, while the hotel manager and staff stood nearby. As he began draining the water with a motor pump, he suffered a fatal electric shock.

The family came to know about the incident only after receiving a call from the hotel staff. Gaurav alleged that Deepak was not given any safety gear and that proper precautions could have prevented the tragedy. Deepak is survived by his wife and two children.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the incident and have sent the body for autopsy.

Teen boy electrocuted to death

An 18-year-old boy was electrocuted to death at his residence under Rajendra Nagar police station limits on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 4 pm when he was checking the electric line of the house and he received severe electric shock. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought dead.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Rizwan, son of Rahim, a native of Khandwa district who was staying at his aunt’s house in Martand Nagar.

His family members said that Rizwan was checking the electric line when he met with the tragic incident. He was the youngest son of his parents and has two siblings. The police began a probe to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and sent the body for autopsy examination.
