Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Under the ongoing drive against illegal liquor, the Excise Department has seized illegal liquor and raw materials worth Rs 1.30 lakh from two different locations in the district. One accused has been sent to jail.
According to the Assistant Excise Commissioner Abhishek Tiwari, the teams led by Excise Controller Devesh Chaturvedi and Deputy Controller ADEO Manoj Agrawal raided areas including Depalpur, Bombay Bazaar, and Kachhi Mohalla.
In the first raid led by ADEO Gopal Yadav and Preeti Chaubey, about 50 litres of locally brewed liquor (hand-bhatti) and 500 kilograms mahualahan (a type of raw material used to prepare illicit liquor) were seized and destroyed from Dhannad, Dharawda, and Bagoda villages of Depalpur town.
Seven cases have been registered under the relevant sections of the MP Excise Act, 1915. The total value of the seized material was estimated at Rs 60,000.
In another raid under the Depalpur Excise Circle, the team raided the house of Raj Verma in Betma and seized 17 cartons of country-made liquor, totaling over 50 bulk litres. The accused failed to produce any valid documents for the liquor. The seized material from this location is valued at around Rs 70,500. The accused has a history of involvement in previous excise cases.
Both actions were led by Excise Sub-Inspector Manish Rathore, with key support from Sub-Inspector Harendra Ghuraiya and BD Ahirwar. Constables Badri Jamra, Mohit Raykar, Seema Bhuria, Allen Baghel, Rashi Solat, Ravi Baghel, and Mohit Kachhway played active roles in the operations.
The Indore Excise Department has clearly stated that the campaign against illegal liquor will continue in the future without interruption.
