Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Six people including a woman were booked for abetting suicide of a readymade apparel trader in the Chandan Nagar area on Saturday. No arrests have been made till the filing of the report.
It is said that the trader committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance after making a video alleging that six private money lenders were harassing him for more money as interest in the Chandan Nagar area.
Chandan Nagar police station in charge Indramani Patel informed Free Press that a case has been registered against Hemant Verma of Chandan Nagar, Alok Jain of Tukoganj area, Jeetu Chawla of Bhagirathpura, Arvind Parmar and a woman under section 108 of the BNS and a relevant section and further investigations are on into the case.
Trader Mahendra, a resident of Palhar Nagar consumed poison in the Chandan Nagar by making a video alleging that he had borrowed money from the accused a few months ago and also repaid the entire amount but the accused were still harassing him for the interest amount.
He had also mentioned the names of the accused in the video. On the basis of the video and preliminary investigation, the police registered a case and started a search for them.
The family members alleged that Mahendra had borrowed about 35 lakh from the accused and they had taken about Rs 1 crore from him but were still harassing him for more money as interest. The family members also demanded strict action against the accused.
