Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city is going to get air connectivity with Varanasi from March 31. This will benefit pilgrims as well as the business fraternity.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has released the proposed summer schedule of flights to be implemented from the end of March. In this schedule, the direct flight to Varanasi is going to be added from the city, while the Rajkot flight is going to be stopped.
It may be noted that the flight schedule is released twice in a year by the DGCA. The first is from March end to October end, which is called the summer schedule. The second is from the end of October to the end of March, which is called the winter schedule.
The DGCA receives proposals from airlines to continue flights on various routes, add new flights and discontinue existing flights, on the basis of which the DGCA issues the proposed schedule and takes approval from various airports and after that the final schedule is issued.
In the recently released proposed schedule, IndiGo has proposed to start a direct flight to Varanasi from the city and has not taken time for the Rajkot flight. This schedule will come into effect from March 31 and will remain effective till October 26.
