Indore: The fate of the Bengali Square flyover will be decided today in a meeting to be chaired under PWD Minister Gopal Bhargava in the presence of Minister Tulsi Silawat and other leaders and department officials.

In the meeting, a new design for the construction of the flyover will be proposed. The PWD had also hired an agency to do a survey on the flow of traffic and problems faced by commuters at the Bengali Square. The report will be submitted in the meeting to the ministers and officials. On the basis of the report, the decision will be taken by the panel that whether the PWD should make the flyover following the sanctioned design or the new design.

Going by the earlier proposal there were no pillars in the centre of the square. The new design calls for two pillars. But now demands are being for the construction of a small rotary with a traffic signal in it.

However, according to officials in the new design, the proposal is for constructing a 20-meter-slab from one pillar to another without any support in between, because of which the flyover’s construction cost could increase more up to Rs 6 crore.
