Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has decided to stop using the word "India" in all its official documents.

Instead, the word "Bharat" will be used. This decision was approved during the university's Executive Council meeting.

According to Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rakesh Singhai, the decision aligns with the idea of "One Nation, One Name - Bharat." The university will soon implement this change, and documents like degrees, mark sheets, and transcripts will mention "Bharat" instead of "India."

Dr. Singhai also stated that all correspondence and daily operations, both within the country and abroad, will now use "Bharat."

He believes DAVV might be the first university in the country to adopt such a proposal.

Reason Behind the Decision
Dr. Singhai explained that "Bharat" has been the original name of the nation since ancient times, while the name "India" was introduced by the British. He emphasized the importance of using the country's original name, "Bharat."

He further mentioned that he has been using "Bharat" on his visiting cards for a long time. Established by the state government in 1964, DAVV is now taking this step to honor the country's roots and cultural identity.
