Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Eight new COVID-19 cases were reported on Saturday, all of whom are residents of the city. Health authorities are currently tracing the travel history of these patients, and their samples have been sent to Bhopal for genome sequencing to identify the virus variant.

With these new cases, the total number of COVID-19 patients in Indore has reached 112, out of which 100 are local residents. At present, 64 patients are in home isolation and showing mild symptoms.

To identify the specific strain, the collected samples have been sent to a laboratory in Bhopal for genome sequencing. Chief medical and health officer Dr Madhav Hasani stated that most of the recent patients are experiencing mild symptoms such as cold and cough, and their overall condition is good. He also assured that there is no need for panic at this stage.

Currently, three patients with additional health conditions are admitted to different private hospitals and are reported to be stable. So far, three COVID-19 related deaths have occurred in the state, all of them were women and all died in Indore. However, all were with pre-existing health issues and belonged to Indore, Khargone, and Ratlam.

COVID-19 testing is available at government facilities including MY Hospital and MRTB Hospital in Indore. People experiencing symptoms like cold and cough are encouraged to get an RTPCR test done at these centres. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the number of daily COVID-19 cases in the city shows a gradual increase.
