Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Amid the fluctuating COVID-19 cases, a 70-year-old woman died in the city on Sunday.
The death of any patient due to COVID-19 is reported after a month as the last death due to Covid was reported on June 9. With this, the total number of deaths in the city reached 1464.
“A 70-year-old woman died due to COVID-19 on Sunday. She was severely anaemic and was suffering from other comorbidities as well. She was admitted to Robert Nursing Home for any other disease but found Covid positive accidently. She was getting treatment in MRTB Hospital and succumbed to the disease on Sunday,” District Nodal Office of Covid-19 Dr Amit Malakar said.
Meanwhile, 70 more patients were tested positive on Sunday with the rate of positivity at 15.93 percent. The total number of positive patients reached 209203, so far. However, the decrease in sampling has pushed the positivity rate up as only 440 samples were tested on Sunday.
Officials, however, said that most of the patients found positive are asymptomatic and many of them were unaware of the fact that they are suffering from the pandemic disease.
“Many people who had visited hospitals for treatment of other diseases or for planned surgery were found positive. Now we will have to live with the disease and it is better for the people to remain vigil and to follow the norms to prevent the disease like they were doing for many months,” Dr Amit Malakar added.
On July 10, the total number of active cases was only 401 in the city.
