Indore: While the country continues to deal the second wave of Covid-19, Indore MP Shankar Lalwani here on Wednesday stated that the city is gearing up to deal with the third wave which is likely to hit the children the most.
“We have ordered more than 350 ventilators for children getting infected with coronavirus, increased the number of beds at Chacha Nehru Hospital and created ‘Play Covid Care Centre’ for them at Radha Soami Satsang Beas,” Lalwani told this correspondent on the sidelines of his visit to vaccination centre at Free Press House.
Lalwani stated that the children can’t be put on ventilators available with hospitals in the city. They require special type of ventilators and after taking permission from state government, we have placed an order for children’s ventilators.
He also stated that the private hospitals have been also told to purchase children’s ventilators.
Besides, Lalwani stated that it is very important to keep children out of stress during the infection. Therefore, a Covid Care Centre has been turned into a playing like facility.
“We are also arranging a bed for the attendant next to infected child’s bed at the centre. Either mother or father can stay with their infected child at the centre,” he said.
Remdesivir to be made in Pithampur
Lalwani stated that the city had faced huge crisis of Remdesivir injections during the second wave of Covid-19. “However, that may not be the situation in case of a third wave,” he said.
The MP stated that a pharmaceutical company at Pithampur is going to manufacture Remdesivir injections. “All necessary formalities have been completed and the company is going to get permission in a day or two,” he said. Lalwani stated that the company has the capacity to produce one lakh Remdesivir injections in a month.
