Guna (Madhya Pradesh)

Amid ongoing three-tier panchayat polls across the state, poll violence continues in the state.

One such incident was reported in Guna district, where one person was seriously injured after three persons from the rival camp abducted him and beat him black and blue.

The matter was reported at Shahrok village, under Aaron police station limit where voting is scheduled on Friday, ahead of this, four persons, including one woman identified as Mamtabai, Bhura Dhakad, Jagdish Bheel and Ishwar Dhakad abducted one 23-year-old Anant, son of Preetam Singh Kushwah and bashed him.

Anant got multiple injuries on his chest, eyes and other body parts and is undergoing treatment at the district hospital, where his health condition is said to be critical. Police booked the trio under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Complainant Munnibai Kushwah, mother of Anant informed police that the trio abducted Anant on Tuesday late in the night and kept him bashing for the whole night.

They released him the next day.

She informed that Diwan Singh Kushwah from her family and Harinarayan Singh from Bhura Dhakad’s family are in the fray for a sarpanch post in the Shahrok village that falls under Aron Janpad and police station limits.

She claimed that even after she sought villagers' help, no one dared to help her fearing Bhura and his family members.

She accused local police of inaction in the matter claiming that even after she called Dial 100 seeking police intervention in the matter, none of the people on the other side picked up the phone.

Raising questions over police functioning in the area, Munnibai Kushwah submitted a letter to the superintendent of police officers saying that Naresh and Jagdish scuffled with her and pushed her out.

Munnibai alleges that she reached Aaron police station at 12.30 am, but none of the police personnel available at the police station was ready to listen to her. During this, Srilal reached out from the accused side.

Only after police intervention, Golu and Naresh of the accused side leave her son Anant on a motorcycle.

She claimed that for the next two hours, her son was lying in the police station in a deplorable condition, but the police did not admit him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, when contacted Aaron police station in-charge Amod Rathore rubbished Munnibai's claim of waiting for her son for a long time at the police station. Rathore informed us that a case has been registered on the complaint and we only kept Anant at the police station till our staff members lodged his FIR after that we admitted him to the hospital.

On the other hand, when contacted by the superintendent of police Pankaj Shrivastava said that if there has been any fight in Shahrok village due to electoral rivalry, then we will investigate into the matter.
