Dewas (Madhya Pradesh): A tribal woman in the Dewas district got a bizarre punishment for having an extra-marital affair. Villagers and in-laws allegedly forced her to carry her husband on her shoulders and walk around the village as a punishment.

A video of the same also went viral on social media. In the video, the villagers are seen bashing a woman and dragging her to the ground. Villagers and in-laws allegedly forced her to carry her husband on her shoulders and walk around the village as a punishment.

The incident happened in the tribal-dominated Borpadava village of Dewas district. Consequently, the Dewas police took cognizance of the video and registered an FIR against 11 persons at the Udaynagar police station. The husband has reportedly been arrested and other villagers have also been booked for the criminal act.

According to the information, the woman has three children and was living with her male friend for the past one week after she had gone missing. Her husband and in-laws searched for her a lot, but in vain. They lodged her missing report at the Udayanagar police station.

On Sunday, the husband informed his family that his wife was at her male friend’s house in the village itself. The husband and in-laws reached her male friend's house looking for her and found the woman hidden in the box. The accused took her out of the house, and began to tharsh her in front of the entire village. Barring just one or two people, most of them remained spectators.

After getting information about the incident, police took the woman into their custody and later sent her to the parental home. Police informed that the victim entered into the wedlock when she was just 15.

The Udayanagar police have registered a case against the accused Mukesh, Chitaram, Rahul, Nanuram, Gabbar, Balu, Bholia, Dharmendra, Karan and Chhotu. All are residents of Borpadava village. Rural ASP Suryakant Sharma said that a case has also been registered against unknown people. Police have arrested eight accused so far.

The 30-year-old woman has two daughters and a son. The elder daughter is 13 years old and the younger is 10 years old. Son is 8 years old. It is being said that a few days ago the children had seen their mother with her male friend and informed their father
