Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya’s (DAVV) executive council meeting on Monday brought several key academic and administrative issues to the forefront, with members expressing concern over the lack of transparency in student placements and insufficient reporting on research activities.
One of the major talking points was the absence of placement reports for the past two years. Members questioned why no official data had been released and criticised the limited statistics provided in the meeting, which only highlighted placements from IMS, IIPS and IET.
EC members argued that the data was incomplete, lacking crucial information about company names and student salary packages, despite over two dozen academic departments operating within the university. Responding to the criticism, Vice-Chancellor Dr Rakesh Singhai assured the council that a comprehensive placement report would be made public in the coming days.
In addition to placement concerns, the council also scrutinised the research contributions made by university teaching departments (UTDs). Members emphasised the need for regular updates on research projects and patents by faculty members, specifically those that contribute to social development and public welfare.
In response, the university administration revealed that DAVV, in collaboration with IIT Indore, is set to undertake 30 new research projects over the next few years. These projects are supported by a grant of Rs 23 crore.
Sciences as a full-time guest faculty. The council recommended that matters such as college affiliations, career advancement schemes and code 28 appointments in private colleges be discussed regularly in meetings.
During the session, registrar Prajwal Khare and council member Monika Gaur were recognised for being appointed as members of Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education. In a symbolic gesture, council members planted saplings at the university’s Nalanda campus following the meeting.
