What Is 'Saugat-E-Modi'?: BJP's EID Gift To Unprivileged Muslims; Check Details

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Minority Morcha (minority wing) will be launching the 'Saugat-e-Modi' campaign to support 32 lakh underprivileged Muslims across the country ahead of Eid by distributing special kits.

The initiative will start from Nizamuddin in Delhi on Tuesday under the guidance of party's national president JP Nadda.

The indicative, seeks to ensure that unprivileged Muslim families can celebrate EID without any hardship.

For the scheme, 32,000 BJP Minority Morcha volunteers will collaborate with 32,000 mosques nationwide.

Scheme To Extent For Other Minority Festivals

Jamal Siddiqui, chief of the BJP Minority Morcha said the scheme is not just limited to Eid and will extend to upcoming occasions like Good Friday, Easter, Nauruz, Baisakhi and the Indian New Year, the Minority Front will reach out to those in need through the "Saugat-e-Modi" campaign he said.

What Does The Kid Include?

Along with food items, the kits will include clothes, vermicelli, dates, dry fruits, and sugar. Kits for women will contain fabric for suits, while men's kits will include kurta-pyjamas. According to reports, the cost of each kit will be around Rs 500 to 600.

All India Imam Association Chairman Maulana Sajid Rashidi welcomed the incentive and said, "Saugat-e-Modi' Eid kits are being distributed to 3.2 million Muslims by the BJP government on the occasion of Eid. This is a commendable initiative as it may help reduce the hatred Muslims have towards the party."

When EID Will Be Celebrated In India?

According to the central government's holiday calendar, Eid al-Fitr in 2025 falls on March 31 (Monday) and is recognized as a gazetted holiday in India. However, the exact date of celebrations will depend on the sighting of the moon.
