Kolkata: BSF South Bengal Frontier jawans foiled the attack of Bangladeshi cattle smugglers on India Bangladesh border of District North 24 Parganas and Malda in West Bengal by taking retaliatory action in self-defence and foiled the smuggling attempt. According to the statement issued by BSF, the incident took place on January 9 at Border Outpost in Khutadah.

“On 09/01/2025, during the second night shift duty at border outpost Khutadah, the jawans saw 3 to 4 smugglers from the Indian side moving towards the fencing with some animals and an equal number of smugglers from the Bangladesh side who had crossed the international border and entered India. The jawan on duty challenged them to stop but the smugglers did not pay any heed and some smugglers aggressively moved towards the jawan brandishing sharp-edged spears in their hands while the rest of the smugglers tried to cut the fencing,” read the statement.

A primary report has also been registered in the concerned police station regarding the firing done in attack and defence and all the cattle will be handed over to the Dhyan Foundation after e-tagging. The spokesperson of BSF South Bengal Frontier said that such incidents are not uncommon on our path of duty.

Meanwhile, after Malda, BGB is not allowing fencing at the border in Mekhliganj in Cooch Behar in North Bengal. The villagers alleged that the fencing is purposely not being allowed so that people can come to India ‘illegally’.

On the other hand, posting a video on X, ISKCON Kolkata vice president Radharaman Das said that idols, worship materials and ornaments have been looted at Bhavatarini Kali Temple, established at the Tushbhandar Zamindar House in Kaliganj Upazila, Lalmonirhat. However, FPJ didn’t verify the purported video posted by ISKCON Kolkata vice president.
