Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) eight MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday visited Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata condemning the arrest of ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Talking to the media, Adhikari said that the saffron camp will protest at Petrapole border in Bongaon from Monday to ensure that no goods vehicle enters Bangladesh from West Bengal if the ISKCON monk is not released.

“Enough is enough. India should stop issuing visas to Bangladesh. Export and Import permits should also be stopped. The people of Bangladesh who unleash terror on minorities should go to Karachi or Lahore for treatment and should not come here. We have seen so many governments in Bangladesh but this is an anti-minority government. The temples and Hindus are being targeted. The atrocities against Hindu minorities should be stopped,” said Adhikari.

Adhikari also added that a mega rally will be called in Kolkata on December 16 to celebrate ‘Vijay Divas’.

“One should remember the contribution of the Indian Army for the liberation of Bangladesh. The Deputy High Commissioner has heard us and has recorded our statement and said that they will take up the issue with their Delhi counterpart,” further added the Leader of Opposition.

BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul said that if the atrocities against Hindus are not stopped and if the monk is not released that more protests will happen in West Bengal.

Notably, the ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on Monday and a sedition case was slapped against him and bail plea was also rejected.

ISKCON vice president Radharaman Das said, “After being heckled, the Hindus thought of protesting demanding safety. The present government thought of breaking the backbone of the protest in order to stop it for which the monk was arrested as he was leading the protest. In every society people have the right to demand protection.”

Poll analyst Biswanath Chakraborty slamming the present government of Bangladesh added, “The present government thinks that the Hindus don’t have the right to even protest in Bangladesh for which the arrest was made.”

Meanwhile, several Bangladeshi nationals who visited India for some purpose are feeling 'afraid' to return to their country.
