A video has emerged on social media showing villagers armed with sticks chasing away a wolf in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district.

The incident took place in Badarka village under the Achalganj Police Station area, according to reports. The footage shows several villagers pursuing the wild animal while carrying sticks as weapons.

According to the Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar, the confrontation came after the wolf reportedly attacked a young woman who was alone in a farm field. Following the attack, residents of the village are living in a state of fear.

Concerned for their safety, villagers are now preventing their children from venturing outside their homes to protect them from potential wolf encounters.

The forest department has been notified about the wolf's presence in the village following the incident. Authorities are expected to take necessary measures to address the situation and ensure the safety of the villagers.

In October last year, six man-eater wolves wreak havoc in the Mahsi region of Bahraich, where they killed nine people while leaving more than 40 people injured.
