West Bengal's Constable Pallabi Biswas Awarded 'Jeevan Raksha Padak 2024' For Saving Elderly Man From Falling Under Moving Train | X / RPF INDIA

Constable Pallabi Biswas of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Purulia, West Bengal has been awarded the prestigious Jeevan Raksha Padak 2024 for her extraordinary bravery.

Pallabi displayed remarkable courage and presence of mind when she saved a 65-year-old passenger from falling into the gap between a moving train and the platform at Purulia Station. 

Her quick action prevented a potential tragedy and ensured the safety of the elderly passenger.

The information was shared by the official handle of Railway Protection Force (RPF India) on Tuesday with CCTV footage, in which the constable can be seen rushing towards the man to save him after he stumbled while trying to board a running train.  

The video also shows other policemen helping constable Pallabi after spotting her helping the man. Fortunately, both the elderly man and the constable remained unharmed. 

All About Jeevan Raksha Padak?

The Jeevan Raksha Padak, a national honor, is awarded to individuals who risk their own lives to save others. Pallabi’s act of selflessness and dedication to duty has brought pride to the RPF and inspired many.

Similar incident at UP’s Naini station

A similar incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Naini station on Tuesday, where a man attempted to board a moving train. In the effort, he fell on the platform and suffered a severe injury in his hand. 

The man was then immediately shifted to the hospital. His condition is stable at present. 

Noticing a rise in such incidents, RPF appealed to the people to avoid such activities saying,  “Trying to board a moving train can lead to serious injuries or worse. Board trains safely!”
