A video showing a father risking his minor daughter's life to create a social media reel has gone viral. The footage depicts the man forcing his terrified daughter to sit on an iron angle above the raging waters of Bandh Baraitha Dam in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, 5th July, at Bandh Baraitha, located within the jurisdiction of Rudawal Police Station.
The man was later identified as Uma Shankar, a local resident who had taken his wife and daughter to see the overflowing dam. The video shows Uma Shankar's wife smiling while he makes his daughter to sit on the box.
Shankar allegedly compelled his daughter to sit on a box placed precariously on an angle as she resisted, putting her life in grave danger. Fortunately, no mishap occurred.
During the monsoon season, the dam, typically full of water, overflows, creating a spectacle that attracts numerous visitors.
Local reports indicate that tourists and residents often risk their lives attempting dangerous stunts for fleeting social media fame.
Shankar had initially posted the video on his Instagram account but later deleted it after facing flak. Despite this, the clip continues to circulate online, with many criticising him for jeopardising an innocent child’s life for clout.
At the time of publishing this article, no police action had been taken against him.
The video has reignited debates about reckless stunts performed for online attention.
