Bhubaneshwar (Odisha), July 6: In a shocking incident, a video has surfaced on social media in which it can be seen that young boys are risking their lives for a few likes and shares on social media. The incident came to light from Odisha's Boudh district where a 12-year-old minor boy is seen risking his life by lying down between railway tracks while a train passed over him. Another youth recorded the incident and made the video viral on social media. The two minor boys involved in the incident have reportedly been detained after the video went viral on social media.
The incident reportedly occurred in Boudh district on June 29 and the video went viral on Saturday (July 05). The two minors were involved in the life-threatening stunt near Jharmunda station. The local police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) swung into action after the video hit the internet.
The RPF and Baunsuni Police carried out a joint operation and investigation into the matter and with the help of the villagers they were able to locate the two minor boys involved in the dangerous stunt. After identification, both children, along with their parents/guardians, were taken to the RPF post at Balangir. Further action is being taken under the Juvenile Justice Act, with proceedings being carried out in the presence of their guardians.
The video shows that a 12-year-old boy lies in the middle of the woods on the railway tracks and the other minor present with him starts recording the video. A train is seen approaching as the kid lay down low on the railway track. The entire train passes over the boy who is lying on the railway track. After the train passes, the boy gets up in joy and celebrates with his partner with joy. The youth are seen celebrating as if they did a heroic act or achieved something. However, if anything would have gone wrong, he could have lost his life in the stupid act.
The railway tracks are not meant for such stunts or Instagram Reels creation. Such actions not only risk lives but also disrupt the railway services. The Indian Railways conducts awareness campaigns across the stations, schools to educate the people about the dangers involved in such acts.
