Agra: The water level of the Yamuna River in Agra is continuously rising due to consistent water releases from the Gokul Barrage in Mathura. On Monday, 15,047 cusecs of water were discharged, following 15,500 cusecs on Sunday.

While the river is now full, its current water level of 57.3 meters remains significantly below the warning point of 151.4 meters. At Poiyya Ghat, the Yamuna is flowing close to both banks, indicating a substantial increase in water volume.

The rising water levels have temporarily halted construction work on the metro bridge across the Yamuna. Machines are unable to operate in the swollen river, leading to a pause in the 350-meter-long bridge project. This bridge, designed to carry the metro 18 meters above the river, is part of the second corridor connecting Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar and was projected to be completed in 15 to 18 months.
