Lucknow: A speeding Scorpio SUV crashed through the wall of a house near Sankalp Vatika in Lucknow late Tuesday night, leaving two residents of the house and one occupant of the car seriously injured. Two other male occupants and a female occupant of the Scorpio fled the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported that the uncontrolled Scorpio entered the house after breaking its wall. The vehicle, which bore an Uttarakhand license plate and had a sticker of a BJP block प्रमुख (chief), also had a beer bottle on its dashboard.
Locals indicated that the occupants appeared to be intoxicated and the Scorpio was speeding erratically. Authorities have impounded the Scorpio and initiated an investigation. Police are working to identify and apprehend the individuals who fled.
Forensic examination of the beer bottle and other items found in the car will be conducted as part of the inquiry. Questions have been raised regarding the presence of the political sticker on the vehicle and the ability of an out-of-state vehicle to operate unchecked at high speeds in the city.
