A disturbing video of a violent altercation on a street in Uttar Pradesh's Jalaun, has gone viral on social media, showing what appears to be a wife and her alleged lover beating her husband in public.
The incident, which occurred on Churkhi Road in the Urai Kotwali area on Saturday evening, was captured on video by bystanders who shared the footage online, prompting police to launch an investigation.
According to reports, the conflict erupted after the husband, his wife, and her alleged companion had returned from Mumbai and participated in a drinking session together. What began as a social gathering quickly escalated into violence when the wife and her alleged lover reportedly ganged up on the husband, beating him severely.
The confrontation played out in full public view as the three engaged in a prolonged physical altercation in the middle of the street. Witnesses report that rather than intervening to stop the fight, some onlookers actually joined in the assault against the husband.
People present at the scene revealed that the altercation intensified near a liquor shop where the wife's companion reportedly attacked the husband with kicks and punches, leaving him seriously injured. In a dramatic conclusion to the incident, the husband reportedly "handed over" his wife to her alleged lover, telling him he could take her with him.
After the video of the incident went viral, the local police promised prompt action in the matter, though no arrests have been reported so far.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the altercation and the relationships between the three individuals involved. The case has become a topic of intense discussion among local residents, with many expressing concern about the public nature of the violence and the failure of bystanders to intervene constructively.
