UP: Agra police have charged a gym trainer, Sahil Sharma, with rape and criminal intimidation after a Canadian woman accused him of sexually assaulting and exploiting her under the pretence of being a RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) agent. The two met on a dating app, Tinder, where Sahil allegedly posed as an intelligence officer to gain her trust.
Details On The Horror
According to reports citing the woman’s complaint, she first met Sahil in March while visiting India. After meeting in person, Sahil invited her to a hotel for dinner on March 20. The woman claimed that Sahil had already arranged pizza and soft drinks in the room. After consuming the food and drinks, she felt dizzy and lost consciousness.
Upon regaining her senses, she realized she had been raped. When she confronted Sahil, he allegedly reassured her by claiming he was a RAW agent and that his life was in danger, which is why he needed to maintain secrecy, as reported by India Today.
Sahil reportedly promised to marry her and continued to meet her during her visit to India between August and September. During this period, the victim stated that Sahil had numerous physical encounters with her in Delhi and Agra. She alleged that he forced her to delete their WhatsApp chats and call logs, citing the need to protect his secret identity.
Victim Was Blackmailed With Obscene Pictures
The woman also named two of Sahil’s friends in the FIR. One of them, Arif Ali, introduced himself as a police officer. She alleged that Arif later blackmailed her using obscene pictures, which he claimed were shared by Sahil.
After returning to Canada, the victim discovered she was pregnant and informed Sahil through Facebook Messenger. However, he blocked her immediately and cut all communication. According to the report, in her complaint, the woman accused Sahil of threatening to upload her nude photos on the dark web, pushing her into depression and requiring medical treatment.
Legal Action Underway In The Matter
The victim described her ordeal as a nightmare, stating, "I feel trapped and see no way out." An FIR has been registered under various sections of the IPC and the IT Act, including charges for rape and criminal intimidation. Agra police have stated that an investigation is underway and they will arrest Sahil once the probe is completed. The police officials are treating the case with urgency.
