The standard of political discourse has been sinking to new lows with each passing day. In a recent incident, BJP spokesperson Prem Shukla lost his cool during a live TV debate on Saturday and used abusive language against Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput, referring to him as ‘R@%di ki Aulaad’ (son of a prostitute).
The clip of the heated exchange has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism against Prem Shukla and the BJP for resorting to abuse on national television.

The debate, which took place on Hindi news channel Aaj Tak, centred on the Pahalgam terror attack. When Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput questioned why a ceasefire was announced despite the Indian Armed Forces being in a position to defeat Pakistan and reclaim PoK while liberating Balochistan, the BJP spokesperson retorted, "Rahul Gandhi speaks Pakistan's language... he licks the soles of Pakistan's feet."
The discussion took an ugly turn when Rajput retaliated, saying, "You lick the soles of Pakistan’s feet, Narendra Modi does that, your father licks their soles..."
At this point, Shukla lost control of his composure and said, "Teri maa r@ndi hai"* (Your mother is a prostitute).
The anchor intervened, condemning the abusive language used by the BJP spokesperson. He even apologised for abusive remarks used during his show.
After briefly muting both participants, the channel allowed them to resume the debate. However, Shukla continued his tirade, saying, "Kaha se laye ho is tawayaf ki aulad ko?" (Where did you find this son of a prostitute?).
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate criticised the BJP leader in a social media post, stating: "This BJP spokesperson crosses every limit of indecency on TV daily, but today, all boundaries of dignity have been shattered. The words spoken about Surendra Rajput ji's late mother—I cannot even write them here. Someone who can say this on a national channel—it's difficult to imagine what he thinks about women. This is the true character of the BJP. Such people are disgusting. Whatever action you take, Surendra ji, I am with you. Expecting respect for women from BJP leaders is meaningless."
Several other Opposition leaders voiced their support for Surendra Rajput, demanding action against the BJP spokesperson.
