New Delhi : The Election Commission on Monday announced a Rajya Sabha by-election in Madhya Pradesh on October 17 to fill up the vacancy caused by resignation of BJP member Najma Heptulla on her appointment as the Manipur Governor.
The term of office would be up to April 2, 2018. The last date for nomination is October 3, scrutiny fixed on October 4 and the last date for withdrawals is October 6.
Similarly, a by-election will be held on the same date of October 17 for filling up a vacancy caused in the Telangana Legislative Council from resignation of Tummala Nageshwara Rao on May 23. The schedule is ditto as declared for the Rajya Sabha by-election.
