In what it might be called as sheer luck, a cab driver in Bengaluru helped cops nab two thieves from an apparel store, after identifying them for stealing his mobile two months ago.
According to Deccan Herald, the two accused have been identified as Mahboob (34) and Ubaid Pasha (40). The accused later confessed of the crime and also told the cops that they were part of a gang involved in mugging and robbery. The cops have said that the gang leader used to give Rs 1,000 along with biryani and booze for every stolen mobile.
The incident took place November 3 when S Shivakumar (48) who is a resident of Srirampura had gone shopping to Pothy’s on KG Road. After he stepped out of the shop, the two accused diverted Shivakumar’s attention and robbed his mobile phone worth Rs 10,000. Before Shivakumar could do anything the duo fled away from the spot.
But Shivakumar had not given up. He collected the CCTV footage of the incident and circulated it amongst his friends. He also frequented the crime scene with two of his friends to see whether he can catch the two thieves. Shivakumar finally on Sunday (January 13, 2019) spotted the two thieves near an apparel store in Upparpet, alerted the store guards about the duo. With the help of his friends and security guards, he caught the thieves but two others fled the spot. Shivakumar then handed the accused to cops.
