Jaipur: Former BJP MLA Bhawani Singh Rajavat has been sentenced to three years jail in the two and a half year old slapping case in Kota.
The SC/ST court on Thursday held former MLA Bhavani Singh Rajawat and BJP worker Mahavir Suman guilty of slapping a Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF). Both were sentenced to 3 years simple imprisonment.
The court, while giving its verdict, found Bhavani Singh Rajawat and Mahavir Suman guilty in the case of obstructing government work and slapping. Both have been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment under section 332 (non-bailable).
The court has imposed a fine of Rs 30-30 thousand as well. At the same time, both have been acquitted in Section-3 (SC-ST).
The incident is in March 2022, when the Forest Department had stopped the patchwork being done by Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) on Dahad Devi Mata Mandir Road. Angered by this, former MLA Bhavani Singh Rajawat slapped DCF Ravikumar Meena in his office.
Ravikumar had lodged an FIR against Rajavat and others accusing them of slapping, pushing and obstructing government work. Rajawat was arrested on 1 April 2022 and remained in jail for 10 days. Later he got bail from the High Court.
Rajawat's advocate Prithviraj Shekhawat said, 'we had filed a sentence suspension application in the court which has been accepted by the court.
