Rajasthan: Internet services suspended in Bhilwara after attack on 2 people

Jaipur: Rajasthan is facing incidents of communal tension back to back. After Karauli and Jodhpur tension gripped the Bhilwara district also after two youth of a community were attacked by eight masked bike-borne miscreants on Wednesday night in the Sanganer area of the district.

The attackers set one bike of the victims on fire that was parked outside a shrine. Both suffered injuries in the attack and are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Communal tension prevailed in the area of the incident and looking at the situation the district administration suspended the internet services for 24 hours and a heavy police force have been deployed in the area.

An incident was reported in the Sanganer area of Bhilwara last night in which two persons were attacked by some unknown people when they were having food. Their bike was also set ablaze. We are investigating the matter," Ashish Modi, District Collector Bhilwara told media persons. He also appealed to the locals not to pay heed to rumours and said that cops are scanning CCTV footage to establish the identity of the attackers.

‘ The police have detained some people and got some important inputs. We are hopeful that miscreants will soon be arrested, said Adarsh Siddhu the SP of the district.

Curfew extended in Jodhpur

In the meantime, the curfew and suspension of the internet have been extended in the violence-hit Jodhpur city. Although the law and order situation is under control in the city and no new incident of violence has been reported after the imposition of the curfew, as a precautionary measure, the curfew has been extended till midnight on May 6th and the suspension of internet till further orders. As per the district administration’s report sent to the government 29 two-wheelers and 21 cars got damaged while 13 buildings and 5 shops were vandalized during the violence.’ The situation is under control in Jodhpur city. The police have registered 22FIRs and arrested 211 people till now.’ said ML Lathar, the Director-General of Police.
