Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi took oath as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. During the oath-taking ceremony, Priyanka held a copy of the Indian Constitution in one hand.

With her swearing-in, Priyanka has become the third member of the Gandhi family currently serving as a parliamentarian. Her mother, Sonia Gandhi, is a Rajya Sabha MP, while her brother is a Lok Sabha member.

Priyanka recently won the Lok Sabha by-election from Wayanad in Kerala. This seat was previously won by Rahul Gandhi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, Rahul had to vacate it as he also won from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh. As a result, the Wayanad seat became vacant, and Priyanka secured a landslide victory in the by-election with a margin of over four lakh votes.

Yesterday, Congress workers from Wayanad arrived in Delhi to hand over the election certificate to Priyanka.

Priyanka Gandhi's son Raihan, daughter Miraya, and husband Robert Vadra were present in Parliament during her oath-taking ceremony.

Apart from Priyanka, Congress leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan took the oath as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha after winning the Nanded bypoll.

Ravindra Chavan defeated BJP's Santukrao Hambarde by a narrow margin of just 1,457 votes. The bypoll in Nanded was necessitated due to the demise of sitting MP Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan.
