A shocking video has surfaced online showing a police constable on a bike slapping a youth who was crossing a road while glued to his mobile phone.
According to reports, the incident occurred on a busy road in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. The cop in the video has been identified as Jayaprakash, the head constable attached to Kavundampalayam police station in Coimbatore.
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with users calling out the cop for not wearing a helmet while riding a bike and slapping a youth as punishment for carelessly crossing the road.
In the video, the youth can be seen crossing the road while looking at his phone. He escapes a possible collision as the cop on the bike slows down before the youth stops abruptly after seeing him. Then the cop delivers a tight slap to the youth's cheek.
The smack was so forceful that the youth, visibly in pain, crouched on the road, clutching his ear.
According to reports, the youth, identified as Mohan Raj is from the Chinna Vedapatti area of Coimbatore and works as an employee in a private company. He was slapped by Jayaprakash when he was on his way to a shop in Nallampalayam area to buy some things for his company.
The CCTV footage of the incident is currently going viral on social media. The incident has caused a stir in the area. Netizens are calling for action to be taken against the policeman who attacked a man who was trying to cross the road while riding a two-wheeler without following traffic rules.
