Kolkata: A day before the verdict of Nandigram recounting case at Calcutta High Court, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee appeals to Justice Kaushik Chanda to leave this case.

According to High Court sources, Mamata Banerjee doubts that if Justice Kaushik Chanda hears the case then she might not get justice.

“Kaushik Chanda was seen attending BJP’s program years back and if he hears this case then the Chief Minister feels that she won’t get justice. The hearing of both shifting of Justice and Nandigram recounting is due on June 24,” mentioned the sources.

Notably, no sooner did the Nandigram case was given to the division bench headed by Justice Kaushik Chanda, than TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek o’ Brien took to Twitter and shared a photo where Kaushik Chanda was seen with West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh.

However, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh claimed that as a lawyer years back Kaushik Chanda had attended the saffron camp’s program and also that he had nothing to do with BJP.

West Bengal BJP general secretary Sayantan Bose also stated that after taking oath as Justice Kaushik Chanda never attended any program of the BJP.

Lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya slammed the TMC for questioning the credibility of a lawyer.

It can be recalled that fearing ‘biased verdict’, a section of lawyers in Calcutta High Court on June 18 was also seen protesting outside the court with placards in hand that they want the change of Justice.
