MBA mom kills kids after suspected abuse

Hyderabad : A 41-year-old MBA housewife, who had allegedly suspected for months that her husband was abusing at least one of his minor daughters, slit their throats in Hyderabad on Wednesday evening. The mother used a broken jam jar to attack the children.

Eight-year-old Ashwika was watching TV at around 9 pm and her three-year-old sister Awishka was sleeping when their mother attacked them, the police said. Their father Vinay Chutke returned from his gift shop at around 9.30 pm and found the front door ajar and his wife missing. He found his daughters covered in blood, one under the bed and the other in the bathroom. Both girls had died on the spot, the police said.

After the incident the woman went to Tank Bund and washed her hands and legs to cleanse herself; then she walked back to the house and surrendered before the police. On being questioned, she confessed to killing her daughters and subsequently was placed under arrest.

‘‘I am sad they are dead but I have liberated them,” Rajini told the police. She also messaged her friends that she had killed her daughters to “liberate” them from abuse and harassment.

According to the police, Rajini suspected that her husband was sexually abusing their elder daughter, an LKG student, for the past six months, the officer said, adding, the woman had also confronted her husband on the matter, but he had denied the charge.

“The woman became suspicious on seeing that her elder daughter would get scared on seeing her father,’’ he added. The police have questioned Vinay but did not find any evidence  of sexual abuse. The body of the elder daughter has been sent for medical examination to ascertain if she was sexually assaulted and the report is awaited.

The woman, meanwhile, has been booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and a probe is on. The family is from Maharashtra and had shifted to Hyderabad a few years ago.
