Voting for sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 12. Polling will be held in 59 Lok Sabha constituencies across seven states. Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, ex-cricketer Gautam Gambhir, former Haryana Chief Minister Deepender Hooda and film actor Kirron Kher are the prominent figures among the contestants in this phase.

Lok Sabha election 2019 is being held in 7 phases. The polling in five phases has already taken place while the remaining phases will go to polls on May 12 (6th phase) and May 19 (7th phase). The counting of votes will be held on May 23.

List of constituencies which will go for voting on May 12:

8 seats in Bihar, 7 seats in NCT of Delhi, 10 seats in Haryana, 4 seats in Jharkhand, 8 seats in Madhya Pradesh, 14 seats Uttar Pradesh and 8 seats in West Bengal.

In Bihar, Valmiki Nagar, Paschim Champaran, Purvi Champaran, Sheohar, Vaishali, Gopalganj, Siwan, Maharajganj; in NCT of Delhi, Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi; in Haryana, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Hisar, Karnal, Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Gurgaon, Faridabad; in Jharkhand, Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, Singhbhum; in Madhya Pradesh, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh; in Madhya Pradesh, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, Bhopal, Rajgarh; Uttar Pradesh in Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shrawasti, Domariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr, Bhadohi; in West Bengal, Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur.

Following are Lok Sabha constituencies set to vote in Phase 6 of polling:

Richest candidates in sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections

ADR has analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 967 out of 979 candidates, who are contesting in the sixth phase of the ongoing general elections, scheduled for May 12. Of all the 967 candidates analysed, 174 are from national parties, 64 are from state parties, 422 are from registered unrecognised parties and 307 candidates are contesting independently.

Topping the list of crorepatis is Jyotiraditya M. Scindia fighting from Guna constituency of Madhya Pradesh with a Congress ticket. He possesses assets worth Rs 374 crore. Second on the list is Gautam Gambhir with assets over Rs 147 crore. The former national-level cricketer also has the highest liabilities (among Phase 6 candidates) of over Rs 34 crore and highest annual income of over Rs 12 crore for financial year 2017-18 as declared in the Income Tax Returns.

Criminal background

Out of 967 candidates analysed by ADR, 189 have declared criminal cases against themselves. This makes up 20 percent of all contenders in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections.

Going party-wise, 26 (48%) out of 54 candidates from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 20 (44%) out of 46 candidates from Congress, 19 (39%) out of 49 candidates from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), five (31%) out of 16 candidates from Shiv Sena and 34 (11%) out of 307 independent candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.
