Lawyers of Allahabad High Court lawyers will go on an indefinite strike to protest the Supreme Court Collegium's decision to repatriate Justice Yashwant Varma - the Delhi High Court judge from whose bungalow in the city a pile of burnt cash was reportedly recovered on Holi.
The decision to go on strike comes after the Supreme Court's collegium recommended his transfer to the Allahabad High Court on Monday.
Justice Varma previously served as an additional judge and later as a judge at the Allahabad High Court from 2014 until his transfer to Delhi in October 2021.

On Saturday, the Supreme Court constituted a three-member committee to investigate the allegations against him and directed Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya to refrain from assigning him judicial duties for the time being. In its resolution, the Supreme Court Collegium stated, "In meetings held on 20th and 24th March 2025, the Collegium recommended the repatriation of Justice Yashwant Varma, judge of the Delhi High Court, to the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad." Notably, the Allahabad High Court Bar Association had previously opposed his transfer, asserting that they were not a "trash bin."
